Moving and Handling Courses

Training for Health offers a wide range of fully accredited Moving and Handling courses that cater for all settings and need. Contact us to discuss the best course for your setting – based on an assessment of hazards and risks and the nature of your work setting.

These courses are delivered by highly experienced IOSH - registered trainers trainers who are all current registered health professionals. All courses include a mix of underpinning theory and practical skills. Delegates will receive an E- Certificate on successful completion of assessments.

Courses Included:

• Moving and Handling of People in Health and Social Care settings

Six hours in one day for a maximum of eight delegates. This course is suitable for registered nurses and care workers in health and care settings such as Nursing and Residential Care Homes, Domiciliary Care and in any other residential or education settings that provide care for those needing assistance with moving.

This course includes the theory and practical skills related to the safe handling of people and use of supportive equipment, including transfer, walking and lifting aids.

• Moving and Handling of People in Health and Social Care settings (refresher)

Three hours for a maximum of eight delegates. This course includes core elements of the theory and practical skills underpinning the safer handing of people.

This is for employees in health and social care settings who have previously successfully completed an initial course such as the one above and who need an annual refresher.

• Moving and Handling of Loads

Four hours for a maximum of eight delegates. This course is suitable for low risk settings such as office spaces, education settings and retail. The course includes the theory of ergonomics and associated real-world practical skills relevant to the delegate’s workplace.
